The Case of the Disappearing Daddy

Categories: Animation, competition, studio, video | Posted by: Triggerfish

When Daddy goes missing during bath time, little Amy turns the case over to super sleuth A. Stemmet and her trusty deputy, Ted Tedson.

The Cape Town leg of the 48 Hour Film Project took place over the weekend of Oct 31st-Nov 2nd and Triggerfish rose to the (nearly impossible) challenge of entering an animated film into the competition. Unbelievably, we pulled it off. With little sleep and much madness, we made the film “The Case of the Disappearing Daddy” which scooped the 2nd Runner Up award at the awards ceremony! Out of 27 entries, the film also won Best Sound Design and received nominations for Best Production Design, Best Supporting Actress, Best Writing, Best Original Score, Best Producer, Best Director and Best Film. Congrats to the team!

Top 2 independent animated films in the Netherlands

Categories: Animation, Feature Film, International Industry, khumba, zambezia | Posted by: Triggerfish

According to our distributors in the Netherlands, Zambezia and Koemba are now the two most successful independent animated films of all time in that territory. We think that’s pretty cool. They even outperformed DreamWorks’ Rise Of The Guardians, Sony’s Hotel Transylvania,  and Disney’s Gnomeo & JulietMuppets Most Wanted and right on the heels of Planes 2.

The films were released in across Belgium and Holland by Canadian owned distributor, Entertainment One, who managed to keep both shows in the theatres for nearly 5 months!  Heel hartelijk bedankt!

Categories: Animation, competition, SA industry, studio | Posted by: Triggerfish

Triggerfish is offering its facilities to any Animation teams who would like to compete in this year’s 48 Hour Film Project.

As many of you already know Animation can take a very long time. On a film like Khumba only 3 seconds on animation is completed in a single day. One can spend hours or days on a single expression. Well we’d like to shake things up a bit. BENCHfilms and Triggerfish would like to challenge all animators in Cape Town to try and make a short film in 48hours as part of this year’s 48hourfilmproject; where perfection comes second and story is king. Are you up for the challenge?
