Triggerfish visits Stockholm, Sweden

Khumba director Anthony Silverston was invited to Stockholm, Sweden to attend the 2014 Stockholm International Film Festival Junior where Khumba was shown to almost 900 kids in 2 sold-out screenings. He also presented Triggerfish’s next film “Sea Monster” written by Raffaella Delle Donne which he has been developing since finishing Khumba as a “Work-in-Progress” as well as gave a presentation taking local and visiting filmmakers through the animation industry in South Africa.

Khumba – double win at SAFTAs 2014

Khumba, the second animated feature from Triggerfish Animation Studios nabbed Best Music Composition in a Feature Film as well as Best Animation at the 8th annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs 2014). There to accept his award on Friday night was composer Bruce Retief who was also nominated in the same category last year for his work on “Adventures in Zambezia.”

Khumba – the Quagga

Visitors to Rhodes Memorial in Cape Town can now read all about the half-striped breed of zebra (quagga) that inspired Khumba, the loveable hero from Triggerfish’s second animated feature of the same name.

In partnership with the Quagga Project which aims to revive the previously extinct half-striped zebra, Triggerfish has designed a new information board that explains more about the fascinating animal’s history. This comes after a quagga-like foal born last year was actually named Khumba after the titular character in the animated feature film. So why not check it out – and you might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Khumba in the flesh!
