Triggerfish Animation Studios is looking for a Senior Technical Director/Technical Supervisor and a Junior Shading Artist for their latest animated short film project, “Stick Man”.

 

Senior TD/Technical Supervisor

Contract Duration: With immediate effect, until end of August 2015

Reporting Lines: Producer

Purpose of the position:

Responsible for maintaining, improving and troubleshooting the facility-wide production pipeline. This position oversees, develops and refines all technical aspects of the existing CG animation production pipeline based primarily on Softimage and the Arnold rendering engine. This entails developing and supporting procedures and tools to allow for a streamlined and efficient animation pipeline consisting of asset building, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and general shot and asset management.

  • Work with Department Leads, TDs and artists to optimise workflows, as well as design and create tools to be integrated into studio’s existing pipeline.
  • Troubleshoot and fix problems across all aspects of the CG pipeline.
  • Integration of tools with existing in-house tools and code base.
  • Oversee development of existing scripted tools to suit the needs of the studio, projects, and artists.
  • Research and develop improvements to workflows to improve productivity, efficiency and communication.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of advanced experience in high end CG animation pipelines using Softimage.
  • Experience with setting up and troubleshooting render farms (Linux/Win environment, Royal Render and Arnold preferred).
  • Must demonstrate strong understanding of all aspects of a CG animation pipeline.
  • Must be able to manage team, quantify deliverables, schedule delivery and set and meet deadlines.
  • Must be to troubleshoot and implement fixes for a complex production pipeline.
  • Ability in Python programming, familiarity with Softimage and Qt APIS, and mySQL is required.

  • Must be a team player with a great attitude and work ethic.

 

Junior Shading Artist

Contract Duration: 1st November 2014 to end of February 2015

Reporting Lines: Technical Producer and Lead Shading Artist

Purpose of the position:

The Shading Artist develops and applies shading materials for animated characters, props and environments for a 3D animated film.

Minimum Requirements:

  • With a solid understanding of the entire surfacing process, including the use and development of texture maps, UV layout, and the use and adjustment of materials, the Surfacing Artist will apply and adjust shaders and materials to assets in order to achieve the desired visual style.
  • The Surfacing Artist collaborates with the lighting team to ensure the proper workflow is being developed to achieve the desired look on all surfaces through to the finished renders.
  • Familiarity with node based shader networks
  • Must have interest and aptitude in working with materials and of shaders (Softimage and Arnold preferable but not essential) and how to manipulate them to achieve desired looks.
  • Provide shader assistance to the texturing and lighting teams.
